A dream of mine since I can remember. Why? Because it is said to be the prettiest in England. I’ve not had the opportunity to do it until this year; 2018. I planned to incorporate my Cotswold experience on my way back to Preston from my trip down to the Isles of Scilly. Again another gift my Nanna has given me in her passing.
I literally had less than a day to cram in what I deemed the most important to me; so I visited four towns in total and gave myself a time allowance for each place.
Known as AONB which stands for “Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty”, it can be slightly confusing when this phrase keeps appearing when doing searches. So I just thought I’d clear that one up. The Cotswold AONB is alot bigger than I initially realised but the main towns are listed as followed; Blockley, Lower Slaughter, Kingham, Mickleton, Bibury, Bourton-on-the-Water, Bredon, Ashton-under-Hill, Naunton, Castle Combe and Burford. Overwhelming right? My suggestion; just look up a handful of places because the likelihood of getting through the entire list (there’s sooooo many more) is probably close to impossible if you’re visiting for a short amount of time. I personally used Instagram and looked up pictures of each town. I know that sounds kinda vain but it gave me ideas from travellers which towns appealed to me most. This helped me to narrow down my list.
So my list;
